Action required for Importers: CBAM Indemnity Declaration

From 2026 onwards, changes to EU regulations will impact imports into the European Union. One of these changes is that the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is fully operational, introducing clear obligations for importers of CBAM goods.

As part of these requirements, importers who import or plan to import CBAM goods into the EU are required to complete a CBAM Indemnity Declaration. With this declaration, the importer confirms responsibility for CBAM reporting and indemnifies NLD Customs accordingly. This requirement also applies to importers who have previously submitted a CBAM indemnity declaration to NLD Customs; a new declaration is required.

The CBAM Indemnity Declaration is available for download here. We kindly ask importers to complete and submit the form as soon as possible.

If you have any questions about CBAM or the indemnity declaration, please feel free to contact us.
